The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to Ri Ju Hwan, a war veteran living in neighbourhood unit No. 67, Yokap-dong, Phyongsong City of South Phyongan Province, on his 100th birthday.

Officials of the Phyongsong City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and villagers congratulated the war veteran on his centenary.

Born into a poor peasant family before the liberation of Korea, Ri Ju Hwan experienced the sorrow of a stateless nation. After the national liberation, he took the lead in the building of a new country while working at the Democratic Youth League. He performed matchless feats in the battles against the aggressors during the Fatherland Liberation War.

The General Secretary invited him, who had worked hard at his revolutionary post in the periods of postwar reconstruction and socialist construction, to the national conferences of war veterans and presented gifts of love to him.
