Water-deer in Mt Kuwol, living monument
December 14, 2024The water-deer belongs to the deer family.
It is usually 90-100cm long and weighs 16-20kg.
It looks like the musk deer, but is a little bigger. Its fur changes in shape, compactness and length according to seasons.
The fur is long and dense in winter, and short and thin in summer. It is generally yellowish brown at the back and white at the belly.
There are habitats of the Mt Kuwol water-deer in the areas of Woljong-ri of Anak County and Churung-ri and Kohyon-ri of Samchon County, which form the southern slope of the mountain.
