Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the US and the West for exacerbating tension as he addressed the council meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on December 5.

He revealed that the US and its allies broke all the international agreements on security including the one on arms control for NATO’s comeback to the political arena.

The US and its allies which were put to shame in Afghanistan needed a new rival to foster their unity and, consequently, the Cold War is being resurrected across the world, fraught with the danger of shifting to the stage of a hot war, he asserted.

At a press conference held after the meeting, he disclosed that the US attacked Russia with the help of the Ukrainian authorities and is helping Kiev assault the Russian territory with long-range weapons while being directly involved in the preparations for such strikes.

Though they promised not to expand NATO, the reverse is the reality, he said, stressing that all the knotty problems existing between Russia and the US have been caused as the US has gone back on promise and has no ability to implement agreements.
