The Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in June 2021 set it as a policy to supply all children across the country with dairy products and other nutritional foods at the state’s expense. Some months later, the Law of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on Childcare was adopted.

Since then all children throughout the country have been supplied with tasty and nutritious dairy products every day.

When the vans loaded with dairy products went to every part of the country, including remote mountain villages, the people were deeply moved by the policy of the Party which takes warm care of the rising generation when the country is still under difficult economic situation. 

Once, a couple living in a mine entrusted their child to their relative far away from their village as they had to go on a business trip. Yet, the van ran at night to bring a share to the child.

Dairy products have been supplied even to children under medical treatment in hospital.

Ri Kyong Ok, resident of Neighbourhood Unit No. 30, Osan-dong, Jongju, North Phyongan Province, said: My son received medical treatment in the Okryu Children’s Hospital in June. During his stay in the hospital he was fed dairy products every day. Looking at his conditions improved, I was filled with gratitude for the enormous benefits provided by the Party. 

On the day when her son was leaving the hospital, she was supplied milk powder for him to take during returning home.

In the course of supplying dairy products, the nursery and kindergarten teachers prepared notebooks for children in their charge.

They record on the books the daily amount and date of supply of milk powder for each child, and their signature to prove the daily supply.

In case a child is absent, they visit to the child’s home to supply milk and sign on the book.

It is said that Kim Hye Jong, a nurse of Ryomyong Nursery, has several notebooks.
