Reception given to welcome winners of World Cup and world championships

The DPRK Cabinet hosted a reception at the Okryu Restaurant on November 14 to congratulate the DPRK players who won the FIFA 2024 U-17 Women's World Cup and the IBA 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships.

Present there were Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Il Guk, Secretary General of the Football Association Sin Yong Chol, Secretary General of the Boxing Association Kim Won Chol, players and coaches of the football and boxing teams and their families and officials concerned and  in the field of sports.

He warmly congratulated the women footballers and boxers and coaches who won gold medals in international events to bring honour to the DPRK, a powerful country, and made a report on victory to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

He said that the news of the DPRK's victory in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup that came only 40 odd days after the win in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup to lift the World Cup three times for the first time in the history of the tournament and in the IBA 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships served as a source of encouragement which injected confidence and fresh vigour into the Korean people.

He expressed expectation and belief that all players and coaches would intensify training, bearing in mind the great pride and honour of being sportspersons of Juche Korea, and thus fly higher the flag of the dignified DPRK in the international events in the future, too.

Players Jon Il Chong and Son Su Rim in their reply speeches said with excitement that the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un was very pleased with the successes made by them, sportspersons, saw that a hero’s welcome was extended to them and brought dreamlike honour and happiness to them repeatedly.

They expressed their will to further glorify the dignity and honour of the great DPRK with gold medals by training harder without resting on their laurels.
