DPRK championships and inter-provincial games close

The final matches of the Inter-Provincial Games in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Day of Sports-2024 and the closing ceremony of the DPRK Championships and the Inter-Provincial Games took place at the Taekwon-Do Hall in Pyongyang on October 30.

Present there were Kim Myong Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Jong Sun, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, officials in the field of sports, sportspersons and the participants in the inter-provincial games.

First, there were the final matches of the Inter-Provincial Games in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Day of Sports-2024.

The Pyongyang municipal team defeated the South Phyongan provincial team in the men's volleyball game.

South Hamgyong and North Hwanghae provinces took the first place respectively in the running while carrying balls on the head and in arms and driving a ball, and the hurdling and crossword puzzle and North Hamgyong Province in the arm-wrestling.

The Pyongyang municipal team beat the North Phyongan provincial team 2-0 in the tug-of-war final match.

Then followed a closing ceremony of the national championships and the inter-provincial games.

In the championships, men and women players of the April 25 Sports Team took the first place in the basketball event and male players of the Kigwancha Sports Club and women players of the April 25 Sports Team in the volleyball event respectively. And 25 new national records were set in the track-and-field, weightlifting, swimming and shooting events.

Pyongyang Municipality came first in total standings of the inter-provincial games.

The standings of the national championships and the inter-provincial games as well as the list of players who set new national records in the championships were announced. And trophies, rotating trophy cups and new record medals were awarded to the successful organizations and players.

Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made a closing address.
