Election of House of Representatives held in Japan
October 31, 2024There took place an election of the House of Representatives in Japan.
According to the result of the ballot, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party failed to secure a majority of the seats in the House in the election.
The number of seats held by the Liberal Democrats decreased by 65 compared with that before the election.
Referring to it, the Japanese media said Prime Minister Ishiba denied resignation but it is inevitable that the situation would have an impact on the government administration.
Foreign media including news agencies, newspapers and broadcasts of Britain, the US, France and other countries commented that voters meted out punishment to Ishiba, analyzing that they openly vented their rage at the corruption scandal revealed in the Liberal Democratic Party. They also reported that Japan’s politics has entered the most uncertain period in recent years and that the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the gambling in the general elections have produced the opposite result.
