To distinguish themselves in world physical circles
October 31, 2024There are a lot of scholars recognized by the world physical circles in the Faculty of Physics of
Im Song Jin, who was registered as the top scientist of the DPRK in Who’s Who in the World in 2018, is also a lecturer and researcher of this faculty.
He was awarded a doctorate in his twenties for his successful research on the distribution control soliton transmission which is of great significance in optical fibre communication.
After startling the world physical circles with his research on nonlinear nano optics, he elucidated a new mechanism of super-continuum oscillation which is also called sunlight laser.
The Springer publishing house published a booklet “Progress in Nonlinear Nano-optics” in his name and the scientific journal of Britain’s Nature, Scientific Reports, carried his essay.
In the essay, he put forward the plasmon phase modulation as a new concept, completely different from the existing principles and methods, in the development of the next generation of optical information technology.
His findings were experimentally proved at world-renowned research institutes and News of Nature Photonics rated them as a landmark discovery in the field of nonlinear optics.
Kang Jin U, who challenged the particle cosmology, the cutting edge of theoretical physics, is also a lecturer and researcher of the faculty.
As he conducted research into the world’s advanced problems of modern particle cosmology, he presented his essays in such renowned SCI-class international scientific journals as Physical Review D, Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics and Physics Letters B and his research findings in an international scientific symposium on particle cosmology.
Based on the findings, he completed his thesis for doctorate “Dark energy and bouncing universe from K-fields” and published his essays on particle cosmology “Bouncing universe and non-BPS branes” and “One-loop Kahler metric of D-branes at angles” in High Energy Physics, an SCI-class international scientific journal.
Other lecturers and researchers of the faculty also presented their research findings as essays in foreign journals and they were officially certified by the academic world in international scientific symposiums and presentations. The findings include the elucidation of physical mechanism of Kondo effect that occurs on the quantum dot, which remained unresolved in the world, and a modern method of renormalization group to identify correctly and at a high level the static and dynamic characteristic quantity of such low dimensional nanomaterials as carbon nanotube and graphen.
In particular, Kang Jin U produced new findings through the research into the quantum effect of low-energy effective action in the D-branes theory in the superstring theory, the quantum theory of gravity which describes in a unified way the interactions of all elementary particles in particle physics, and published them in the world-prestigious journal High Energy Physics, attracting the attention of the academic world.
At present, too, a lot of lecturers and researchers of the faculty publish in international scientific journals the essays on unsettled issues of the academic world and cutting-edge issues of great concern.
The faculty has a bright future.
At present,
The university aspiring to a first-class institution now strives to develop its faculties and departments into first-rate ones, and the Department of Modern Physics of the Faculty of Physics is in the vanguard of the effort.
The faculty has built its teaching staff centring on PhDs in their 20s, 30s and 40s, including the scholars recognized by the world physical circles, winners of the February 16 Sci-tech Prize and lecturers and researchers who experienced international academic exchanges, and ensures they play a pivotal and leading role in education and scientific research.
Having turned its departments into research institutes, the faculty established a well-organized system for training teachers and researchers to channel efforts into training excellent candidates, and keeps updating the sequential education curricula from the regular course to the postgraduate course and teaching methods as well.
Experiments and practical training are also arranged at the top level.
Labs, practical training rooms and IP production bases have been built afresh to realize the integration of education, scientific research and production, based on them.
It is the common aspiration and goal of the university to constantly develop and advance under the slogan of “Let us make a leap forward by dint of science and guarantee the future by dint of education!”
