This year, agricultural guidance organs at all levels have pushed ahead with the plans for expanding the wheat fields.

The Agricultural Commission set a goal of increasing the area for cultivating wheat in the next year 1.2 times as much as that for this year and took a measure for its attainment.

In particular, it planned and pushed in a big way the sowing of winter wheat in the fields where the irrigation system was completed.

South Hwanghae Province pressed ahead with a plan for increasing the wheat cultivation area while introducing high-yield varieties fit for the climatic and soil conditions of the region into new right soil.

North Phyongan Province selected the right sowing time and confirmed rational farming methods.

South Hamgyong Province concentrated on increasing the wheat cultivation area as planned. Its cities and counties produced large quantities of good quality home-made manure by mobilizing compost resources as they took practical steps to make newly-found wheat cultivation areas fertile.

After confirming different right kinds of soil, North Hwanghae Province solved problems arising in the production and transport of quality home-made manure and supplied farms with the seeds of high-yield varieties.

Other provinces also took practical measures to expand the wheat cultivation area.
