The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, an iron producer in the northern part of the country, is making innovations to increase the production of rolled steel every day.

The oxygen blast furnace and oxygen converter of the complex continue to produce large quantities of molten iron and its high-temperature air combustion heating furnace keeps turning out steel plates.

While solving problems that would arise in increasing the production of rolled steel, including the supply of fuel and raw materials and the introduction of new technologies, the complex concentrated the powerful engineering, repair and maintenance forces on major production units in order to raise the operating rate of equipment and thereby increase the daily outputs. In particular, it has taken necessary measures promptly, while keeping up with the ongoing production at production processes through the real-time monitoring system.

The complex introduced advanced technologies into different systems of the high-temperature air combustion heating furnace to raise its operation rate much higher than previously and ensure the daily output of steel plates at a high level.

Its technicians researched and introduced technical innovation plans and rational proposals for shortening the melting time and increasing the daily number of charges and developed and applied technical proposals for boosting the production of oxygen that is decisive in iron production.

As a result, the complex more than doubled the production of rolled steel as compared to the same period of last year.

The Ranam Coal-mining Machine Factory has also registered good results in production.

The factory introduced a technical innovation plan for reducing the present tap period by half and double the production of steel castings, irrespective of existing formula and capacity, in order to keep the production of steel castings up with the fast processing and assembly rates.

Technicians devised and introduced efficient jigs, apparatuses and tools to mechanize the desanding operation in keeping with the mass production of steel castings, thereby increasing the speed of processing and assembly.

As a result, the factory has turned out new-type 300 hp winch, ore concentrate pulp pump and other ordered equipment as scheduled.
