Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized Israel’s air raid on Syria in a press conference on October 9.

It causes casualties among innocent people to make an air raid on a crowded residential area of a third country, whoever the target may be, she said, expressing indignation over such atrocities that are being ceaselessly committed against Syria, Iran and the Gaza Strip.

The recent attack assumes an extremely irresponsible and dangerous character and it is obvious that lying behind the raid is an intention to expand the armed conflict in the region, she disclosed.

Russia opposes any use of armed force aimed at aggravating disputes in the Middle East and strongly demands once again that Israel respect the sovereignty of states and observe the elementary norms of international law, she noted.
