National sculpture and craftwork festival opens

The 5th National Sculpture and Craftwork Festival opened in the DPRK to celebrate the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

On display at the venue of the festival are more than 350 sculptures and craftworks of diverse themes and forms created by sculptors, craftsmen, fans and students from across the country.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on October 3.

Present there were Ju Chang Il, department director of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Myong Chol, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, officials and creators of ministries, national agencies and fine art field, working people, youth and students in Pyongyang.

Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu made an opening address.
