ALBA-TCT (La Alianza Bolivariana Tara Los Tueblos De Nuestra America-Tratado De Conercio De Los Tueblos) condemned the US for the sanctions it applied against Venezuela in a statement published on September 13.

The US recently imposed sanctions on 16 Venezuelan officials under the pretext that they obstructed the “democratic political participation” in the course of the presidential election in their country.

In this regard, the statement denounced it as a new offensive against the human rights of the Venezuelan people.

The US’ unilateral sanctions constitute a criminal and unlawful conduct against the sovereign states that do not conform to its own interests and an action that destroys the political and economic stability not only in Venezuela but also in the rest of the region, it stated.

Urging the US to respect the sovereignty of peoples of American and Caribbean regions, the statement expressed strong support for and solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people.
