The Foreign Ministry of Venezuela issued a statement on September 12 to denounce the US for imposing new sanctions on its officials.

That day, the US Treasury Department announced that it would apply sanctions against 16 Venezuelan officials while finding fault with the presidential election process in the country. In connection with this, the statement branded it as a unilateral, illegal and coercive act and a new aggressive crime.

The US’ sanctions moves showed once again that the country totally disregards not only international law but also the right to self-determination and democratic will of the Venezuelan people, the statement stressed.
