Factory improves performance of induction motor

The Haeju Tractor Parts Factory has presented a method of transforming cylindrical induction motors into high moment motors.

In the past the factory waged a technical innovation drive to make high moment motors, whose velocity and power factor are higher than those of induction motors.

Through repeated thinking and study, they remodelled the stator winding structure with double layer overlap winding into a single layer concentric winding structure, thus reducing power consumption and economizing on copper wire, compared with the past when induction motors were used.

The introduction of this method will reportedly lower the starting current of motor by half as compared to the double layer overlap winding, improve the speed moment characteristics, raise the power factor and efficiency and help automate the manual stator winding insertion process.

It is popular with many units in South Hwanghae Province as the capacity of the motors has improved after applying this method.

For example, since it was introduced into the motors of water pumps for irrigation, the pumping amount has increased over 1.3 times more than before.

The method was highly appreciated at the 37th national sci-tech festival as it helps many units using induction motors save both electricity and materials.
