There is the Rungna People’s Sports Park on picturesque Rungna Islet located in the middle of Taedong River meandering through the capital city of Pyongyang.

According to an official of the sports park, since its inauguration as a general sports service base in June 2013, large numbers of people have visited it over the past ten-odd years.

The park has football grounds covered with natural and artificial turfs, basketball and volleyball courts, a field hockey pitch, soft drinks stands, shower rooms and resting places.

Visitors can borrow football, volleyball, roller skate and the like at the sports apparatus room. Working people, youth and schoolchildren are satisfied with the park as it has every facility and condition for doing various sports and exercises there.

The park thick with green foliage boasts a picturesque view.

Visitors find it refreshing to see the green landscape lined with hedges and covered with tens of thousands of trees in more than 30 kinds, including apricot, persimmon, plum and dwarf apple trees, pine, gingko and Picea Koraiensis.

On the field hockey pitch, players are engrossed in training.

In 2022, football grounds covered with artificial and natural turfs were built to expand the service area, and various services are provided to meet the needs of visitors.

Visitors have indelible impressions in the sports park as they feel as if they play sports games on a ship sailing along the Taedong River.

According to employees of the park, not only local people but also lots of foreigners visited it in the past ten-odd years to do sports and cultural and leisure activities. In the park, dozens of national and mass-based sports games, including national championships, have taken place to promote the development of sports techniques of the country.
