Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, issued a commentary on August 7, in which she disclosed the real intention of Japan which is struggling to infiltrate into Central Asia.

Japan is attempting to infiltrate into Central Asia thousands kilometres away from the country according to instruction of the US administration, rather than out of economic interest, she said.

Japan’s real intention is to harm the economic relations system formed for decades between regional countries and the Russian Federation and bind Central Asian countries to the “rules-based order” of the West against Russia and China, she asserted.

The Central Asian countries should distinguish the plan for reducing them to the neo-colonial stooges of the Western camp from the stand for actual reciprocal cooperation, she added.
