Natural monument-Ocha Rock

August 9, 2024

Ocha Rock is located on the southwestern shore of Monggumpho which is dozens of kilometres away from Ryongyon county town of South Hwanghae Province.

The rock, which was formed as quartzite was eroded and weathered, offers a picturesque view since it goes well with the clear blue sea, sandy beach, strangely-shaped pine trees and sweet briars.

It is 12 to 15 metres high and about 10 metres round at the bottom.

On top of the rock, there is another rock which is four to five metres high, reminding viewers of a giant defending the sea. The regularly layered strata of Ocha Rock stretches as far as to the shore.

A rare rock on the coast of the West Sea of Korea, it is of great academic significance and was designated as a natural monument.
