Camps, palaces and other facilities for extracurricular activities of schoolchildren are located in scenic places of the country as their homes of happiness.

Among them is the Mangyongdae Children's Camp at the foot of picturesque Mt Ryongak in Pyongyang.

The camp was wonderfully remodelled in 2016 according to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on providing rising generations with better conditions for extracurricular education.

New campers are excited as they see camp buildings, decorated beautifully and smartly with yellow and red tiles in contrast to the forests of the mountain, and boats floating in a lake.

The six-storey camp buildings are furnished with convenient bedrooms, folk and video games rooms and a library to suit the children’s mind.

The two-storey hall is equipped with conditions for campers to conduct diverse cultural and artistic activities. At the general knowledge learning space in the hall, they can acquire broad knowledge including knowledge about the ocean and mountaineering.

The restaurant that looks like a ship floating in water is capable of providing a large number of campers with a meal at a time and there are also a birthday party room and cooking practice room for campers.

The camp has an outdoor swimming pool filled with clean water, boating ground, animal house, basketball court and a playground for dance party and sports games.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un looked round the remodelled camp in early June 2016 and expressed satisfaction over the fact that another splendid palace of children was built up encapsulating the Party’s love for younger generations, the future.

According to Pae Kwang Su, section chief of the camp, more than 1. 029 million schoolchildren have spent pleasant days at the camp so far since its inauguration.
