Chongsokjong has been famous as a scenic beauty from olden times as every cliff and rock of it are so mysterious and beautiful.

Its name is derived from the fact that a pavilion was built on top of a peak stretching like a peninsula.

Being well-known as a scenic spot on the shore of the East Sea of Korea, it comprises cliffs consisting of tall angular stone columns standing or lying at different angles on the shore.

It has various shapes of rocks like Manmulsang (Myriad-shaped Peaks) in Mt Kumgang.

The scenery of Chongsokjong is the one of cliffs rising high on the sea and therefore its beauty can be enjoyed more deeply from the sea.
