A Pyongyang municipal consumer goods show took place at the Pyongyang Underground Store from June 25 to July 5.

“The aim of the exhibition was to decisively increase the quantity and variety of popular goods needed for the people’s living and improve their quality a step higher,” said Rim Hak Dok, an official of the Pyongyang Municipal People’s Committee.

According to him, more than 250 000 consumer goods in some 1 000 kinds were presented to the exhibition by over 150 units which raised the competitive zeal for developing new products and improving their quality.

Many foodstuff production units have increased the variety of processed flour products in keeping with the fact that the country’s cereal production structure has changed into rice- and wheat-centred one.

The Pyongyang Wheat Flour Processing Factory presented instant noodles, the Yua General Foodstuff Factory displayed kimchi-flavoured crisps, fresh milk cake, cocoa roll cake, twisted doughnut and strawberry cream cake and the Kwangbok Kumgangsan Foodstuff Factory exhibited a variety of breads, biscuits and others. They were in great demand among the people as their quality was high and they were mouthwatering.

The Ryongsong Meat Processing Factory and the Jangsan Food-stuff Processing Company brought out processed meat products including sausage, and the Solgwang Fishery Processing Company exhibited fish sausages and other quality processed foods, making visitors happy.

Consumer goods production units in the city have brought out distinctive commodities amid the competition for developing new products and improving their quality.

Crowd-pullers were the booths which put on display Unhasu-brand shampoos, rinses, lotions and soaps, Kumgangsan-brand functional cosmetics and collagen, aloe, vitamin, hyaluronic acid and other cosmetics presented by big and small cosmetics producers in the city.

The Ryuwon Footwear Factory, the Sosong Songdo Leather Shoes Manufacturer and other shoe production units exhibited trainers and women’s leather shoes, which won popularity for their high quality.

Various kinds of plastic goods and men’s and women’s bags were also popular as they are sought-after.

Rim Hak Dok said that the exhibition level is getting higher day by day thanks to the enthusiasm of producers to turn out more famous goods favoured by the people with locally-available raw materials, domestic materials and technology.
