Russian President refers to development of naval forces

Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the development of naval forces in a consultative meeting on June 26.

He said that one of the major tasks facing Russia is to develop the navy in a comprehensive way, raise the position of the Russian navy in strategically important oceans of the world and increase its combat capabilities remarkably.

To this end, new-type warships and latest weapons are being delivered to the navy, and activities for completely renovating technical equipment are underway, he said.

In order to supply the shortage in warships in time, it is needed to accelerate the modernization of shipbuilding enterprises and increase the output of equipment and parts, he said, adding that the most important task for the long-term development of shipbuilding is to admit competent talents into the design bureau and dockyards across the country.

He called for conducting the experimental designing of equipment, devices and weapon systems needed for the development of new-type warships in advance to shorten the period of designing and building of capital ships and reduce warship building costs.
