Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova censured the US for aggravating the Korean peninsula situation in a press conference on June 26.

She said that the US and its allies are intensifying military actions in Northeast Asia today, and this poses a threat to regional stability.

Since the Western group does not abandon its desire to cause uneasiness to the DPRK’s socio-political system, the government of this country was compelled to take necessary measures in defence of national security, she said.

Washington, which has selected confrontation, is wholly to blame for driving the process of addressing the Korean peninsula situation to a deadlock, and consequently the regional situation is walking a tightrope on a dangerous level, she stated.

Seoul is trying to reexamine its stand as to the delivery of lethal weapons to the Kiev authorities. In connection with this, Russia will not look on with folded arms at the transfer of the ROK’s weapons and military technical equipment to the Ukrainian neo-Nazi elements, which are engrossed in attack on the Russian territory and the slaughter of peaceful residents.

She advised the ROK to free itself from the morbid servitude to the US not to be the latter’s slave, and to evaluate the Korean peninsula situation realistically.
