Restaurant offers signature dishes in beautiful scenery

The Pyongyang Taedonggang Fish Restaurant with distinctive architectural beauty is located on the banks of the picturesque Taedong River like a large passenger liner on the river. 

Six years have passed since the inauguration of the restaurant.

It still draws lots of customers as it serves palatable dishes in a hospitable environment with fine scenery.

The restaurant is noted for the excellent location.

People say its dishes made of fishes of higher quality are really distinctive and especially the views of the Taedong River and Chongnyu Cliff, which are seen through the windows of the dining rooms, are very impressive.

Eye-catchers are pictures representing refreshing seascape on the walls and indoor ponds on the first floor in which sturgeon, Ryongjong fish and other fishes of higher quality swim leisurely.

Customers beam broadly as they see live fishes that are scooped out of water and fresh hairy crabs and shellfish. 

The most popular dining room is the one which serves dishes made on the spot with fishes scooped out of the indoor ponds. 

“The sturgeon, which was alive just a few seconds ago, became a dish of raw fish slices thanks to the deft culinary skills of a cook whose hand movement is as fast as a magician’s. We can get such a distinctive service only at this restaurant,” said Kim Ok Gyong, an old resident living in Okryu-dong No. 1, Taedonggang District, Pyongyang. 

Noodles garnished with sliced raw fish and fish soups of the restaurant are widely known not only in Pyongyang but also in local areas.

Mouth-watering noodles garnished with sliced raw sturgeon, salmon and Ryongjong fish and soups prepared with Ryongjong fish and carp highlight the special features of the restaurant which specializes in fish dishes. 

The restaurant’s dining rooms that serve traditional Korean, Western and Eastern foods and circular dining rooms satisfy the demands of customers who come there with their family members or friends. Especially, roast sturgeon on skewers and other roast fishes that are served at the circular dining room on the third floor are a big favourite with diners. 

The restaurant has a shop selling various kinds of marine and processed products.
