Tideland reclamation has been undertaken on a large-scale in the west sea of our country.

The reclamation of tideland is an undertaking for the everlasting prosperity of our country and, in particular, an important one for increased grain production.

That’s why the Workers’ Party of Korea has put great efforts into the undertaking, regarding it as a nationwide affair.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the important tasks of pressing ahead with tideland reclamation at the seventh and ninth plenary meetings of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Tenth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK.

The large-scale operation to completely reclaim hundreds of thousands of hectares of tideland in the near future has entered a full-scale stage.

Tideland reclaimers are now waging a resolute struggle at the tideland reclamation sites along the west coast.

The cofferdam construction project for the Yangchon tideland was completed in a month followed by the successful completion of the similar project for the Sokhwa tideland in the west coastal area in early May and the General Tideland Reclamation Enterprise of North Phyongan Province is pushing ahead with cofferdam construction for section A of the Aedo tideland.

The General Tideland Reclamation Enterprise of South Hwanghae Province is pushing the reclamation of Kakhoedo and Jungsando tidelands and the cofferdam construction project for section D of the Taesuapdo tideland.

And successes have also been achieved at the Naejangdo, Phyongwon, Oejanggot, Woldo and other tideland reclamation sites across the country.

It is not long before the arrival of the day when the west coastline of the country, which had been marked complicatedly with islets, bays and peninsulas on map, will become straight. The undertaking, which has long continued, will be done in several years to tame the rough sea on the west coast which has been dormant for thousands of years. This will make it possible to turn the vast expanse of tidelands into fertile fields, golden fields, sharply increasing the grain production of the country while expanding its territory and open up a bright prospect for offshore culture.

As the territory of the country expands, a new map of Korea is being drawn day after day.
