A ceremony of laying a wreath took place at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin walls in Moscow, Russia, to mark the day of recollection and sorrow on June 22.

Russian President Vladimir Putin placed a wreath in front of “Eternal Flame” and paid a silent tribute in memory of fallen Soviet soldiers who had dedicated their lives for the country.

There was a march-past of the honour guard.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Defence Minister Andrei Beloussov, war veterans and army commanding officers.

The Russians pay noble respects to the victorious wartime generation on June 22, the day when the Great Patriotic War began, every year.
