Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a press conference on June 19 denounced the United States and puppet Republic of Korea (ROK) for attempting to trigger a nuclear war.

The US and the ROK are jointly working to carry out a nuclear plan not only to cope with a non-existent “threat” from the DPRK but also to strategically contain Russia and China, she said.

The practice of geopolitical armed conflict scenario where nuclear weapons are used is causing the expansion of tension, wrecking peace and stability and pushing this region to a nuclear holocaust, she noted.

The US is pursuing an aggressive policy in the Korean peninsula in a bid to reduce it to the second Mideast by setting another region aflame and destroying and driving it into a complete confusion, she disclosed.

She added that the assertion that the DPRK’s threat should be checked conflicts with the fact, because what the DPRK has done are countermeasures against everything the West has made against the country for decades.
