The BRICS Games-2024 opened in Kazan, the Tartarstan Republic of Russia, on June 12.

More than 3 000 players from 97 countries will compete at 16 sports facilities in the city during the games which will go on until June 23.

In a video speech delivered to the participants in the opening ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the role of BRICS is gradually being enhanced worldwide, expressing his belief that the BRICS Games will continuously grow more popular as a competition which is free from political interference and pressure and which actually unites athletes all over the world.
