China rejects foreign interference in Hong Kong issue
March 24, 2024A spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry in a press conference on March 20 refuted the accusations of the US, the UK, Japan and the EU about the “national security regulations” of Hong Kong.
The regulations adopted with unanimous approval by the legislative body of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ensure the fulfilment of the SAR’s responsibilities related to national security stipulated in the constitution and further cement the security basis for the development of Hong Kong, he said, adding it constitutes a significant milestone in the process of development of the “one country, two systems” effort in a new course in the new era.
It is the steadfast determination of the Chinese government to defend national sovereignty and security and development and interests, carry out the “one country, two systems” policy and oppose interference of any outside forces in the Hong Kong issue.
Any attempt to defame and mar the “national security regulations” will definitely end in failure, he noted.
