International Women's Day significantly celebrated across country

\March 8 International Women's Day was significantly celebrated across the DPRK.

People visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme temple of Juche, with boundless yearning and reverence for President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Meanwhile, a large number of people visited the statues of the President and the Chairman on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang and in different parts of the country to lay baskets of flowers, bouquets and flowers at them and make a deep bow to them.

A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on March 8 to celebrate the 114th anniversary of International Women's Day as warm respect and love were expressed for women in all parts of the country.

A joint performance was given by the National Circus and the National Folk Art Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on the same day.

It was seen by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, and other senior Party and government officials, officials of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea and working women in Pyongyang.

Sports and amusement games of officials and members of the women's union across the country took place at the Taekwon-Do Hall from March 6 to 8.

Officials and members of the women's union in all provinces competed with each other at various sporting events like volleyball, badminton and yut-game.

The finals of each event took place on March 8.

The spectators were deeply impressed by the events full of joy and optimism of women who bring harmony and happiness to the large socialist family.

Colourful amusement games held amid the enthusiastic cheers of women's union members added to the festive mood.

An event took place at the Rungna People's Sports Park on March 8 to mark "AFC women's football day".

Officials of all provinces, cities, counties, institutions, factories, enterprises and farms met and congratulated exemplary working women, including scientists, teachers and innovators of relevant units, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Colourful congratulatory performances, dance parties and amusement games took place across the country to rev up the festive mood.

Okryu and Chongnyu restaurants and other public catering establishments across the country served special dishes to women.

Souvenir and flower shops and flower stands across the country were unusually crowded with people who tried to choose bouquets and flowers for their wives and mothers who devote themselves to society, the collective and the family.
