Lunar New Year’s Day celebrated in China

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council of China held a group meeting for exchanging lunar New Year greetings in 2024 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on February 8.

President Xi Jinping attended the meeting together with senior Party and state officials to make a speech.

He said that 2024 is the year of the 75th anniversary of the founding of a new China and a year of key significance in attaining the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan.

He called for following the general orientation of work of pursuing development in stability, implementing the new idea of development in a comprehensive way and planning the qualitative development and a high level of security in a unified way.

He pointed to the need to consolidate the good trend of economic recovery, sustainably promote the livelihood and welfare of the people and maintain social stability.

At the meeting a performance was given by artistes.

President Xi and senior Party and state officials visited their old comrades to inquire after their health on the occasion of lunar New Year's Day.
