As news of inauguration of regional-industry factories is proudly being reported to the whole world as the first fruition of the implementation of the regional development policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea for the simultaneous changes and rejuvenation of the whole country, the people of Usi County of Jagang Province are filled with jubilation over a richer and happy socialist life.

An inaugural ceremony of the regional-industry factories took place in Usi County on January 25 as a happy event of the whole county and the whole province.

It was attended by officials and working people of Jagang Province and Usi County, soldier builders and employees of the regional-industry factories. Pak Song Chol, chief secretary of the provincial Party committee, said that the regional development policy reflecting the noble idea of the great Party Central Committee supporting the people as in Heaven is ushering in a new era of brilliant change in the country.

The chief of the Foreign News Section of the Department of Press and Information of the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued on January 26 a press statement titled "The US and the ROK can never evade the responsibility for the aggravation of regional situation to be entailed by an  increase in the visibility of military provocations", which said:

These days, the US and the ROK are perpetrating serious acts of military provocation targeting the DPRK one after another, adding a danger variable to the unstable security environment on the Korean peninsula and in the region.

The US and the ROK staged Ssangmae joint air drill in the Wonju air force base from January 21 to 24 under the pretext of increasing the capability for cooperation between the two sides in air operations.

Study tourists of the 1000-ri (250-mile) Journey for National Liberation of schoolchildren from across the country passed Hyangsan.

The study tour group left Mangyongdae on January 22 and hastened their steps along the historic places associated with the sacred footsteps of President Kim Il Sung.

On January 24 the study tourists entered Hyangsan county town, flying the flag of the group in front of the ranks.

The 556th triplets left the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital amid the blessings of well-wishers.

The mother of the three triplets (two sons and a daughter) is Cha Sol Gyong living in Kosan county town of Kangwon Province and their father is Kim Chung Hyok, worker of the  Kosan county evodia forest station.

After being diagnosed as being pregnant with triplets last year, Cha was sent to the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital. Thanks to the benefits of the socialist public health system, she received best medical care as she was supplied with a variety of nutritious foods and tonics on a regular basis.

More than 60 young men and women in North Hwanghae Province volunteered to work at major fronts of socialist construction.

Those in Pongsan, Phyongsan and Thosan counties decided to work at the regional and rural construction sites.

Young people of Sinphyong and Unpha counties also volunteered as builders at the county construction brigades.

The February 8 Vinalon Complex, a leading chemical industry base, has increased production since the march of the new year started.

While consolidating successes and experience made and gained in readjustment and reinforcement last year, the complex has overfulfilled the plan for the production of basic chemical goods every day on all indices by operating all production processes at full capacity.

The raw material and carbide workshops, the initial process of production, increase the operating rate of equipment by strictly observing sci-tech requirements arising in operating kilns and electric carbide furnaces.

A delegation of Kim Il Sung University headed by Kim Sung Chan, president of the university, and a delegation of Kim Chaek University of Technology headed by Pak Ji Min, president of the university, left Pyongyang on January 24 to visit Russia.

The delegations were seen off by Pak Hak Chol, first vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, Jon Sun Jong, vice-president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, at Pyongyang International Airport.

The Workers’ Party of Korea set forth the struggle tasks of putting the country's educational foundation on a new high level in the shortest possible period by channelling national efforts at the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of its Eighth Central Committee held in December last year with the aim of building a country which gives top priority to education and whose education is the most advanced in the world.

It is the intention of the Party Central Committee that the state should take full responsibility for the problems related to school things and fixtures and educational equipment and materials and make steady efforts to provide educators and students with the best working and studying conditions.

The plenary meeting also adopted measures to push ahead with the renovation of schools, which takes the biggest part in strengthening the educational foundation, without delay as a national undertaking, set a bold goal of giving a total facelift to all schools across the country in the coming ten years and pursue the goal perseveringly to carry it through.
