Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a message of greeting from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, on October 6.

The message said:

I extend warm congratulations on behalf of the CPC and the Chinese government and people and on my own behalf to you and to the WPK and the DPRK government and people on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the PRC and the DPRK.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket and a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps in Pyongyang on the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The military attache of the Cuban embassy, doyen of the corps, conveyed the flower basket and letter to an official concerned on October 4. 

Flower baskets in the name of the UN resident coordinator office and the missions of the UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, FAO, WFP and WHO in Pyongyang were laid at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on October 4 on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.  

Tanso is one of the smallest national wind instruments held vertically like thungso. It was also called “tanjok” for the short length.

With tanso, we can perform different styles of rendition and it is convenient to carry, too.

Today, it is widely used in solos, ensembles and concerts. In particular, it plays subjects in mixed orchestral works and also plays an important role in keeping alive the national characteristics in performing orchestral music.

The Kangso Temple built in the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) is in Kangho-ri, Paechon County, South Hwanghae Province.

It was originally called Ryongun Temple and later renamed Kangso Temple in the period of Koryo in the meaning that it is a temple located in the west of the Ryesong River.

The Taehung Hall of the temple is a gabled building 16 metres long and 8.62 metres wide.

The Russian permanent representative to the United Nations strongly denounced Israel’s invasion of Lebanon at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the Middle East issue on October 2.

Asserting that now the Middle East has been embroiled in a war, he noted that Israel is wholly to blame for aggravating the regional situation.

He said that Israel had already known that in case it removed the general secretary of Hezbollah, an organization of Lebanese patriotic forces, terrible consequences would occur in the whole Mideast region, but it killed him to worsen the situation intentionally. 

An enlarged plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet took place on October 3.

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, guided the meeting.

Present there were vice-premiers Yang Sung Ho, Ri Chol Man and Jon Sung Guk and other members of the Cabinet.

The 5th National Sculpture and Craftwork Festival opened in the DPRK to celebrate the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

On display at the venue of the festival are more than 350 sculptures and craftworks of diverse themes and forms created by sculptors, craftsmen, fans and students from across the country.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on October 3.

A presentation of poem and song of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) took place at the Central Hall of Workers in Pyongyang on October 3 to celebrate the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Present there were Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, trade union officials, workers and trade union members in Pyongyang.
