The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket from Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The Laotian ambassador to the DPRK handed over the flower basket to an official concerned on September 4.

The chief of the Public Information Office of the Ministry of National Defence of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on September 5 issued a press statement titled “Provocateurs can never evade the heavy responsibility for escalating tension”, which said:

The US and the ROK are staging provocative joint military drills one after another, maximizing the military tension in the region of the Korean peninsula.

The hostile forces staged the largest-ever joint military exercises Ulji Freedom Shield from August 19 to 29 by mobilizing more than 200 fighters of various kinds, the US Army unit coping with chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear attacks and even troops of satellite countries under the “UN Command”. And they have frantically been staging the joint landing drill Ssangyong from August 26.

Hundreds of modern low- and single-storied and terraced dwelling houses have been built at the Ryongsin Farm in Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province.

Present at the ceremony for moving into new houses were Choe Hung Jo, secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials, builders and agricultural workers of Hungdok District. Hwang Myong Chol, vice-chairman of the provincial people's committee, made a congratulatory address at the ceremony.

Licences for using the houses were handed over amid the loud applause of the participants.

This year alone, more than 200 graduates from universities of education and teachers training colleges volunteered to do their jobs at branch schools on islands and schools in mountainous and rural areas.

In March, scores of graduates from Wonsan University of Education and Wonsan Ri Su Dok Teachers Training College, more than ten graduates from Nampho Teacher Training College and Nampho University of Education and others from universities and colleges in Kangwon Province and Nampho City volunteered as teachers at schools in mountainous and rural areas.

Graduates of Chongjin O Jung Hup University of Education and Kim Jong Suk Teachers Training College in North Hamgyong Province volunteered to work at schools in mountainous areas at the northern end of the country. And ex-servicemen graduates and over 10 graduates from Hamhung University of Education and Hamhung Choe Hui Suk Teachers Training College in South Hamgyong Province also left for schools in mountainous and rural villages.

Today, the Workers’ Party of Korea works out grand plans in succession to achieve the prosperity of the state and welfare of the people. 

The successful implementation of them is guaranteed by education. 

Our education sector continues to put big efforts into reorganizing the educational structure so as to provide advanced education.

The Forestry Equipment Factory located in Ryokpho District, Pyongyang, is making and supplying a variety of quality products to tree nurseries across the country.

“Now that the variety of products of our factory has increased over 2.5 times as against its initial days, it has fulfilled the first half-yearly plan for this year by introducing significant technical innovation plans into production,” said Won Myong Su, senior engineer.

The factory succeeded in domestic production of plastic additives, which take a lion’s share in production, in keeping with the realities of the country, with the result that it improved the stability and durability of products under the sunlight and ensured the light and soil humidity favourable for the growth of saplings and the germination and normal development of seeds. This opened up a prospect of markedly enhancing the quality of products while drastically reducing the production costs against the previous period by making use of plastic waste.

Pae Jae Son, PhD, Associate Professor and head of the orthodontics department of the Ryugyong Dental Hospital, has worked as a health worker for nearly 40 years. In the period he made significant achievements in the research into advanced medical science in the field of orthodontics and cured a large number of patients including several cases of orthodontics whose medical conditions were rare in the world, thus making a great contribution to the development of the country's dentistry.

Pae had taught students at Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences for 25 years before being appointed as head of the orthodontics department of the newly-built Ryugyong Dental Hospital 11 years ago.

Looking at the hospital furnished with costly ultra-modern medical equipment, he made up his mind to become a true medical worker devoting himself to the people with high medical skills.

A delegation of the DPRK Olympic Committee led by Chairman Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, left Pyongyang by air on September 4 to take part in the 44th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia to be held in India.
