The possession of great military capability is an inevitable course of struggle and an essential historic task which must be chosen to defend the destiny of the country and nation.

The DPRK's cause of achieving the comprehensive national rejuvenation and promoting the people’s well-being is just, but it is accompanied by the vicious challenges of the most hostile and threatening enemy states and mounting war crises.

Following last year when the US nuclear submarine and nuclear strategic bomber entered the puppet ROK area after decades and the situation heated with nuclear war games, the hostile forces have continued to increase the acts of military provocation against the DPRK from the beginning of this year. This vicious cycle has further endangered the security of the DPRK.

The Ninth April Spring People’s Art Festival was opened with splendour in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, to mark the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The festival will draw artistic group members of different institutions, industrial establishments and farms. It is held, divided into a city and county (combined) artistic group category, an artistic group category of institutions, an artistic group category of industrial establishments and an artistic group category of farms.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on April 10.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a reply message from Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on April 10.

The Laotian president in the message expressed his sincere thanks, on behalf of the Central Committee of the LPRP and on his own behalf, to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for sending him sincere greetings and a beautiful flower basket on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the LPRP.

The message noted that the greetings and flower basket sent by Kim Jong Un are a manifestation of the traditional friendship, unity and cooperation between the two parties, two states and the peoples of the LPDR and the DPRK and, at the same time, serve as a great encouragement to the LPRP carrying on the cause of national defence and construction along the road of socialism.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket and a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The flower basket and congratulatory letter were handed over to an official concerned on April 10 by the military attache of the Cuban embassy who is doyen of the military attaches corps.

The flower baskets came from Buvei Lubsanov, general manager of the Everest Co. Ltd, Alexandr Zagainov, general manager of the Stroidilprom Co. Ltd, Kirill Aksenov, manager of the Arsenal Co. Ltd, Yuri Shink, manager of the Aliyans-Stroiindustria Co. Ltd, Rajik Zainutzinov, general manager of the Miras Co. Ltd, Yevgeny Dinchenko, general manager of the Stroitekh Production and Construction Co. Ltd, Vassily Kirzapkin, deputy general manager in charge of construction of the Kvid Co. Ltd., and Arsen Aganov, deputy general manager of the Promspetstroi Co. Ltd. 

An oratorical meeting of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) took place on April 10 at the Central Hall of Workers in Pyongyang to commemorate the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. 

It was attended by Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, officials concerned, trade union officials and workers and TU members in Pyongyang.

At the meeting, the orators warmly praised the noble revolutionary career of the President who regarded it as his lifelong motto to believe in the people as in Heaven and made a sacred revolutionary journey unprecedented in history and the immortal revolutionary exploits of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who goes on the great journey of devotion to the people for the overall prosperity and development of the DPRK. 

There took place a seminar on the exploits of President Kim Il Sung in the Czech Republic, round-table talks in Bulgaria and a lecture in Algeria on the occasion of the 113th birth anniversary of the President.

Present there were personages of political parties, organizations and institutions, including the Communist Party of Czech and Moravia of the Czech Republic, the Czechoslovak Communist Party, the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association, the Bulgarian Communists' Party, the Bulgarian Group for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the Kim Il Sung Library in Sofia, the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association and the Algerian newspaper El Hiwar, and other people in those countries.

Speeches were made at the events.

The 2025 Spring National Footwear Exhibition was held amid the interest of visitors.

During the exhibition, officials and working people of scientific research institutions, production units and relevant units shared and transferred through many-sided technical exchange the successes and experience gained in the course of realizing the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to diversify consumer goods by directing efforts to developing new products and expanding their variety.

A closing ceremony took place at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 on April 10.

Weightlifter wins nine gold medals in a year

Among weightlifters of top ten players of the DPRK for 2024 is Kang Hyon Gyong, women weightlifter of the Amnokgang Sports Club.

She was selected as one of top ten players of the DPRK for 2024 again after 2023.
