Young people from across the country began their study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu.

A meeting took place at the plaza before the statue of Chairman Kim Jong Il in the City of Samjiyon on December 2 to start the study tour.

Present there were Ri Song Il, secretary of the Ryanggang Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Yong Bom, chief secretary of the Samjiyon City Committee of the WPK, officials of the youth league and members of the study tour group.

A working-level delegation of the DPRK State Hydro-Meteorological Administration led by Director Kim Jae Hyok left Pyongyang by air on December 2 to visit Russia. 

The delegation was seen off by the officials of the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration and the Russian ambassador to the DPRK at Pyongyang International Airport.

All sectors and units of the national economy are conducting brisk mass technical innovation campaigns while stepping up modernization and informatization in our style by relying on science and technology.

The masses of the people are the masters and developers of technology. Through a mass technological innovation movement, they not only consolidate what they have learned but also acquire more knowledge. In the course of solving scientific and technological problems arising in the development of their units while participating in such a movement, they improve their ability to apply science and technology and fully prepare themselves as intelligent workers well versed in science and technology.

For example, working people in the tractor and farm machine production units took part in the national technical innovation competition of the April 15 technical innovation shock brigades, held on the theme of “Production of efficient and quality tractors and farm machines” from March to October this year, and attained many technical innovation goals.

The Chollima Steel Complex creates favourable conditions and atmosphere for all producers to present more good ideas conducive to the development of the complex including present and future production.

A typical example is a sci-tech prize contest.

The complex has organized the contest once every quarter and made the examination, appraisal and review of proposals in a fair and substantial way.

The 16th Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair on the theme of “For independence and friendship, common development and co-prosperity” took place between November 19 and 25 at the Central Youth Hall.

Presented to the fair were electric and electronic goods, machinery, building-materials, medicines, foodstuffs and other products with world competitive edge, which were produced by more than 160 businesses and companies of different countries, including the DPRK and Russia.

On display were many specialities and natural products from pollution-free mountains and rivers of the DPRK with beautiful landscape.

Alexander Bortnikov, chief of the Russian Federal Security Service, warned about NATO’s aggressive moves in a recent consultative meeting of chiefs of security and intelligence services of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Mentioning about the ever-increasing military threat from NATO, he disclosed that NATO is rapidly expanding towards the Arctic and Baltic regions, trying to enhance its capabilities for combat, reconnaissance and supply on the Black Sea and seeking the way to approach the Caspian Sea.

He also asserted that Western special agencies, non-governmental organizations under their control and mass media outlets are intensifying acts of sabotage to implement NATO’s policy of aggression.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea decided to convene the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK late in December to review the execution of the Party and state policies in 2024, confirm the orientation of struggle for 2025 and discuss and decide on a series of important issues arising in achieving the comprehensive development of socialist construction.

A relevant resolution of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee was released on December 2. 

The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a message of greeting to the General Council of the United Russia Party (URP) on December 1.

In the message, the WPK Central Committee extended warm congratulations to the URP leadership, all its members and its supporters throughout the country on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the United Russia Party.

We are pleased that the URP is dynamically pushing ahead with the implementation of the programme for building a powerful and prosperous Russia by pooling the patriotic enthusiasm of the people of all social strata as one, and express firm support and solidarity with the just cause of the United Russia Party and the Russian people to defend the sovereignty, security and development interests of the country, it said.

The Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea constantly pursues the policy of promoting the rights of persons with disabilities to ensure that they hold the position as masters of the country and society and lead a fulfilling life in all fields of social life.

President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the issue of providing living conditions for persons with disabilities was stipulated in the first labour law of the country in 1946, the year after Korea’s liberation from Japanese military rule, and that the first organization of the disabled was established in February 1948.

In the thick of the Fatherland Liberation War, he took a measure to found a school for honoured disabled soldiers to ensure they learned useful techniques and skills. After that, schools for the blind and deaf, honoured disabled soldiers’ factories, workshops for light workers and sanatoriums were built across the country, providing a solid foundation for the protection of the disabled.
