Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sends greetings to Lao President

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, on December 2.

The message extended warm congratulations to the president, party, government and people of Laos on the occasion of the 49th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Since the founding of the country, the Lao people have made great successes in the work for achieving the political stability of the country and developing the economy in a sustainable way under the correct leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the message said.

Expressing belief that the long-standing relations of friendship between the two parties and the two countries would grow stronger, Kim Jong Un wished the Lao president greater successes in his responsible work for building a powerful and prosperous socialist state. 

Events held to commemorate demise anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il

Working people's organizations held meetings on December 13 to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the demise of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Present there were Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK), Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK), officials of the GFTUK and the UAWK, workers and trade union members, agricultural workers and members of the UAWK in Pyongyang.

At the meeting of workers and trade union members for hearing stories about the noble virtues of Kim Jong Il held at the Central Hall of Workers, the performers said that the whole life of Kim Jong Il who made the high-intensity forced march only for the people without a moment's rest was the noble revolutionary career of a peerless patriot.

Resident UN missions pay floral tribute to DPRK great leaders

Flower baskets in the name of the UN resident coordinator office and the missions of UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, FAO, WFP and WHO in Pyongyang were laid at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on December 13 on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the demise of the Chairman. 

Cambodian King, Great Queen send large flower baskets to DPRK embassy

King Norodom Sihamoni and Great Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia sent large flower baskets to the DPRK embassy in the country on December 11 on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the demise of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The flower baskets were laid before the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Birthday spread sent to centenarian

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to Ri Ju Hwan, a war veteran living in neighbourhood unit No. 67, Yokap-dong, Phyongsong City of South Phyongan Province, on his 100th birthday.

Officials of the Phyongsong City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and villagers congratulated the war veteran on his centenary.

Born into a poor peasant family before the liberation of Korea, Ri Ju Hwan experienced the sorrow of a stateless nation. After the national liberation, he took the lead in the building of a new country while working at the Democratic Youth League. He performed matchless feats in the battles against the aggressors during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Triplets leave Pyongyang Maternity Hospital

Boy triplets left the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital on December 13 amid the blessings of all the people.

The mothers of the triplets from Tonghungsan and Hoesang districts of Hamhung City in South Hamgyong Province and Chongdan County in South Hwanghae Province had received the best medical care at the hospital.

They gave easy births to their triplets with the help of medical workers.

North Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science inaugurated

The North Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science was newly built in the DPRK.

The construction of a comprehensive research base equipped with conditions such as research rooms, laboratory, tissue culture and acclimatization greenhouse provided another material and technical foundation for the development of agriculture in the province.

An inauguration ceremony took place on the spot on December 13.

Song Kuk Hyang wins gold medals at 2024 IWF World Championships

DPRK weightlifter Song Kuk Hyang came first at the 2024 IWF World Championships.

She lifted 116 kg in snatch, 148 kg in jerk and 264 kg in total in the women's 76kg category on December 12 to win three gold medals.

Women's union officials make study tour of revolutionary battle sites in Mt Paektu area

Officials of the women's union from across the DPRK made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu from December 6 to 12.

They toured the Paektusan Secret Camp, the Rimyongsu Revolutionary Site, the Chongbong Bivouac, the Konchang Bivouac, the Taehongdan Revolutionary Battle Site and the Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site.

They laid bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il in the revolutionary battle sites and the City of Samjiyon and paid tribute to them.
