April is the spring season when all kinds of flowers are in full bloom in the DPRK.

The balmy season comes every year, but the Korean people feel unusual feeling in the spring of April.

Spring is not merely a natural season that gives the vitality and vigour of resuscitation to this land.

The cause of independence for mankind can victoriously advance along the track of development in the face of all ordeals only when there are scientific ideas and theories correctly reflecting the people’s aspirations and ideals.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il performed immortal exploits for accomplishing the independence cause and their revolutionary activities conducted on their visit to Indonesia are recorded in their histories of leadership.

The President and the Chairman paid a visit to Indonesia in April 1965 to attend the event held in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the first Asian-African conference (Bandung Conference).

Mangyongdae has been known as a place of great scenic beauty from olden times.

It was called thus as it commands a bird’s eye view of the kaleidoscopic variety of beautiful scenery. The name originally referred to Mangyong Hill.

Up on the hill, one can look down on the natural scenery in around 40 kilometres and the shape of the hill looks like an elaborate tower. So it has been called Mangyongdae since olden times.

Mangyongdae is the place where President Kim Il Sung was born and spent his childhood.

Preserved intact there are historic relics showing the qualities and personality traits of the President as a great man.

Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected various sectors of the national economy.

The premier called on the Kumsong Tractor Factory and the Kangso Engine Parts Factory to further improve the machining accuracy and quality of products by actively introducing advanced science and technology and push ahead with the development and production of effective farm machines of various kinds so as to uphold with high production results the Party's idea on continuously raising the proportion of the farm work done by machines.

He acquainted himself in detail with the steel tower production process for the laying of super-high voltage transmission line and the operation of equipment at the Transmission Line Laying Station. And he underlined the need to unconditionally implement the task planned for this year by effectively utilizing the existing production capability and show special care for the employees' living in conformity with the features of the unit which has lots of itinerant work to do.

The DPRK has ushered in an era of great prosperity when the great national might is demonstrated to the whole world and the people’s centuries-old desire is translated into reality, a new era of overall development of socialism when people, society and mountains and rivers undergo remarkable change.

The new era of the overall development of socialism is the greatest heyday of bolstering up national power when politics, national defence, the economy, culture and all other fields make simultaneous progress and the dignity and prestige of a powerful country are demonstrated to the whole world.

The political and ideological might, the irresistible force peculiar to Juche Korea which no country can possess or imitate, and the strongest military muscle capable of mercilessly destroying any enemy, looking down everywhere on earth, are the first dignity and prestige of the DPRK admired by the world at present.

A photo exhibition "Pyongyang, our capital city undergone tremendous changes in the great era of Kim Jong Un" was opened on the occasion of the significant April holiday. It shows the changed appearance of Pyongyang writing a new history of transformation in the great golden age of construction and great heyday of creation ushered in by the noble aspiration and energetic guidance of the Central Committee of the great Workers' Party of Korea.

The exhibition intensively and visually shows the eye-opening development of Pyongyang in the new era which is achieving rejuvenation and prosperity while recording a chronicle of unprecedented miracles in the history of capital construction. And it is also the epitome of the bright prospect of the DPRK and the capital city advancing and making a leap forward on the people-first principle.

On show is a photo of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un putting forward the tasks and ways for building Ryomyong Street.

The Ninth April Spring People's Art Festival, which was opened on the occasion of the greatest auspicious April holiday of the nation, is going on with splendour at theatres and halls in the capital city of Pyongyang every day.

Working people, youth and students in Pyongyang enjoyed the performances.

The performances represented the loyalty and patriotic enthusiasm of all the people across the DPRK to continuously perform miracles and feats in the general advance for achieving the overall development of the state, true to the ideology and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, holding President Kim Il Sung in high esteem for all ages.

The area of Mt Paektu in the DPRK was registered as a global geopark on April 10 at the 221st meeting of the Executive Board of UNESCO being held in Paris.

The geopark consists of such unusual geologic relics as Mt Paektu and Lake Chon on it, Jong Il Peak, Lake Samji and the Rimyongsu Falls naturally formed by the volcanic geological effects in the long historical process of the earth, and of a grand canyon famous for Chongun Rock and pumice layer, a product of the millennium eruption. Its unique geological features present a spectacular sight.

The registration of the area of Mt Paektu as a global geopark has further highlighted the geological significance of Mt Paektu, the ancestral mountain, and its tourist value.
