The deputy general director of the General Armaments Bureau of the Ministry of National Defence of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following press statement on April 1 under the title "The new 'co-produced weapon' of the US-Japan military alliance signals the further unstable security environment of the region":

The US-Japan alliance styling itself a key axis of the US-led military alliance system in the Asia-Pacific region is taking on a fresh appearance to give repeated signals of instability to the surrounding countries and the regional society.

A typical example is that the US and Japan formally agreed to co-produce the latest air-to-air missile AIM-120, with the recent visit of the US Secretary of Defense to Japan as an occasion.

This year, regional-industry factories were built in 20 cities and counties across the country as the first creations of the Regional Development 20×10 Policy, and the second-round construction of regional-industry factories and the construction of three essential projects—hospital, leisure complex and grain storage station—started in succession.

As another grand new street for the people took on a majestic appearance in the Hwasong area of Pyongyang, the fourth-stage construction of 10 000 flats started in the area as the final-stage task of the five-year plan for the construction of the capital city.

In the meantime, beautiful villages boasting of the DPRK-style rural civilization are rising up in all parts of the country.

Making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people is the mode of existence of the Workers’ Party of Korea and its revolutionary trait.

The WPK defined the revolution itself as love for and trust in the people and has embodied the people-first principle in its building and activities thoroughly, consistently and perfectly.  

The people’s demands and opinions are fully respected in drawing up lines, making policies and implementing them and all production and construction are undertaken by giving precedence to providing the people with full convenience and with their opinions and appraisals as the standard.

Premier Pak Thae Song, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, inspected various sectors in South Phyongan Province.

The premier called on the farms and raw materials base stations in Sukchon and Phyongwon counties to actively introduce various advanced farming methods for increasing the agricultural production while saving farming materials, improve the growth of earlier crops of wheat and barley by manuring and cultivating them in a scientific and technological way and raise the land utility rate in conformity with the regional characteristics.

He referred to the need for the agricultural guidance organs at all levels to give substantial guidance and assistance to consolidate the material and technical foundations of farms and continue to direct great efforts to studying and introducing the seeds of high-yielding grain varieties.

The respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un sent Haebaragi-brand school things to the children at revolutionary schools and primary and middle schools for orphans and to the schoolchildren in island villages and island army posts across the country ahead of the school opening day.

The children at the revolutionary schools, including Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School and Nampho Revolutionary School, hardened their determination to always and steadfastly go along the road of loyalty and repayment by inheriting the pure soul of their parents and prepare themselves as reliable successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche.

All the schoolchildren at primary and middle schools for orphans in Pyongyang and other regions and schoolchildren in island villages and army posts on the east and west seas, too, received the sets of school things associated with the warm love of the motherly Workers’ Party.

The delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation led by Kazbek Taysaev, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and head of the Russia-DPRK Friendship Parliamentary Group of the State Duma, on a visit to the DPRK laid a basket of flowers at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on March 31.

Present there were officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

The participants laid the flower basket in the name of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation at the statues of the great leaders and paid tribute to them. 

The visiting delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation led by Kazbek Taysaev, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and head of the Russia-DPRK Friendship Parliamentary Group of the State Duma, laid a wreath at the Liberation Tower in Pyongyang on March 31.

Present there were officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

A wreath in the name of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation was placed at the Liberation Tower.

A delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation led by Kazbek Taysaev, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and head of the Russia-DPRK Friendship Parliamentary Group of the State Duma, arrived in Pyongyang on March 31.

The delegation was greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Russian ambassador to the DPRK and staff members of his embassy. 

The scientific search prize was awarded to exemplary university students of the DPRK who have distinguished themselves in study and scientific search activities.

University students across the country presented valuable inventions and technical innovation proposals substantially conducive to the implementation of the Workers' Party of Korea's Regional Development 20x10 Policy and the national economic development.

A meeting for awarding the University Student Scientific Search Prize took place at the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang on March 31.
