A ceremony for visiting the monument to Kimilsungia, a photo and book exhibition and a film show were held at the Bogor Botanical Garden of Indonesia on April 17 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the historic visit to Indonesia by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Present there were personages of the government, political parties, organizations and institutions of Indonesia, including the Central Directive Council of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, the Foreign Ministry, and the Indonesia-Korea Association for Friendship and Cultural Exchange, and the charge d'affaires ad interim of the DPRK embassy in Jakarta and his embassy staff members.

The participants looked round the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, photos of the great leaders and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, famous works of the peerlessly great men, books and picture albums introducing the DPRK, pictures showing the brilliant development of socialist Korea on display at the venue for events and the monument to Kimilsungia.

The DPRK embassy in Moscow hosted a reception on April 14 on the occasion of the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Present there at invitation were personages of the government, parliament, political parties, organizations and institutions of Russia, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, the Ministry of Health, the Federation Council, the State Duma, the Party for Peace and Unity and the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK.

Also present there were the DPRK ambassador to Russia and staff members of his embassy.

A joint friendship gathering of the DPRK and Russian young people took place at the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang on April 20.

Present there were Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, officials of the youth league, university students in Pyongyang and members of the visiting delegation of the United Russia Youth Guards led by Anton Zemidov, chairman of its Coordinating Council.

The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.

April 22 is Earth Day.

To protect the earth, the cradle of life, and maintain a clean ecological environment is an important undertaking of all mankind.

But at present, the ever-increasing human activities have made a big impact on the global environment.

The Russian Foreign Ministry on April 17 made public a press release to condemn Japan for aggravating military tension.

Russia vehemently protested to the Japanese government against the Ground Self-Defense Force’s scheme to stage a drill for launching a ground-to-ship missile with a 200km range in Hokkaido near the Russian border in June, it said.

It stressed that Russia regards such a provocative military action as a potential threat to national security and can never put up with it.

Present there at invitation were Peng Qinghua, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, and officials of relevant sectors including the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the State Office for International Development and Cooperation, the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Association for International Friendly Contact, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League and the All-China Women's Federation.

Present there were Ri Ryong Nam, DPRK ambassador to China, and his embassy staff members.

The delegation of the United Russia Youth Guards led by Anton Zemidov, chairman of its Coordinating Council, visited the Youth Movement Museum in Pyongyang.

Members of the delegation looked round photos and relics showing the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for the development of the Korean youth movement and data dealing with the feats performed by the young vanguard.

The delegation also toured the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, the Taekwon-Do Hall, the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm and the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, and laid a wreath before the Liberation Tower. 

The national calligraphy festival and fine art exhibition for aged artists opened at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on April 9 in celebration of the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Strokes carry meanings

More than 250 calligraphic pieces are put on display at the national calligraphy festival.

The Fifth Sweet and Biscuit Sculpture Show was recently held at the Chongnyu Restaurant, a famous public catering base in Pyongyang, winning popularity. 

Presented to the show on the theme of “Pyongyang Is Best” were more than 1 000 sugar and biscuit sculptures created by public catering and external service units and foodstuff factories in Pyongyang.

The sculptures on display aroused curiosity and admiration from the visitors as each of them represented well the relevant theme and was made well by applying formative arts.
