The Japanese imperialists were hell-bent on the war of aggression on the continent in the 1930s, armed with modern military equipment including planes, tanks, warships and artillery and styling itself the “leader of Asia”. On the other hand, the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, or the anti-Japanese guerrilla army, was only armed with rifles its members had taken from the enemy at the risk of their lives.

The anti-Japanese guerrilla army was no match for the Japanese imperialists numerically and in terms of military hardware, to say nothing of the state rear.

That’s why the anti-Japanese armed struggle was the fight in which its victory was inconceivable by the existing common sense and its course was the continuation of unprecedented trials.

During the anti-Japanese armed struggle, President Kim Il Sung inflicted heavy defeats on the Japanese imperialist aggressors who boasted of their numerical and technical superiority with the protean and adroit arts and tactics of guerrilla warfare.

They included the tactics of making the enemies fight among themselves, attacking them at lightning speed before vanishing like the wind, pretending to go away but staying nearby to attack them in succession, alluring and ambushing them, harassing them in their rear, attacking them in the west after making sounds in the east, marching a long distance in a rush, leaving only one line of footprints to make enemies be quite at a loss and promoting simultaneous operations by small and large units. They smashed all sorts of tactics of the Japanese imperialists including “combing tactic”, “tick tactic”, “single vantage deployment tactic”, “step-by-step occupation tactic” and the “tactic of tenacious long-distance pursuit”.

On a march during the large-unit circling operations, the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army unit under the command of Commander Kim Il Sung being pursued by a “punitive force” of the enemy encountered another “punitive force” in the front. At that juncture, Kim Il Sung ordered guerrillas to make a single-log bridge on tree stumps standing here and there to escape sideways. The enemies, unaware of that, fought each other all night through. They realized they had fought among themselves and suffered a wholesale death only after it became light on the following morning and cried out that “The tactics of guerrillas are a mystery which even the devil wonders at”.

The anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters loved their homeland more ardently than anyone else.

They keenly experienced the sorrow of stateless people in their native villages trampled underfoot by the Japanese imperialists and in an alien land.

As they knew they were as good as dead without their motherland, they never yielded in the life or death battles while sleeping on fallen leaves in the cold-wind-swept primitive forests and overcoming severe starvation. 

A flower basket was sent to the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang by Cui Tongjun and Wang Shuli, members of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation, on the occasion of the 93rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army.

The flower basket was laid before the statues of the great leaders on April 23. 

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket from Cui Tongwen, honorary director of the Board of Directors of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation, on April 23 on the occasion of the 93rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army. 

The credentials of the Serbian ambassador to the DPRK sent by Aleksandar Vucic, president of the Republic of Serbia, to Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was accepted.

Upon authorization of the President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, Choe Ryong Hae, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, received the credentials from Serbian Ambassador Maja Stefanovic at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on April 23.

Choe Ryong Hae had a talk with the ambassador in a friendly atmosphere.

Officials of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) and agricultural workers held an oath-taking meeting at the Kuksabong Revolutionary Battle Site in Nampho Municipality on April 23 on the occasion of the 93rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army.

Prior to the meeting, the participants made a study tour of the revolutionary battle site.

A resolution was read out at the meeting attended by Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, officials concerned, officials of the UAWK and agricultural workers.

The 38th National Festival of Science and Technology opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on April 23 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

The festival, being held on the theme of "Successful completion of the Five-Year Plan and the massive turnout of the scientific circle", brought together officials, scientists and technicians from more than 650 units who were nominated by ministries and national agencies and highly appreciated at provincial sci-tech festivals.

The festival is being held, divided into more than 30 panels, including metal, chemical, electric power, coal, machine-building and light industries and agriculture. On display in the form of actual objects, models and operating exhibits were the achievements made through scientific research activities for the economic development of the country and the improvement of the people's living standards and scientific and technological proposals conducive to implementing the policy on regional development of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The Pyongyang municipal tourist souvenir exhibition-2025 goes on with splendour at the Pyongyang Underground Shop every day.

On display are various craftworks, articles of folkcraft, daily necessities and foodstuffs made by many production units in the capital city to suit the tastes and characteristics of the people.
