All the DPRK people delightedly celebrate March 8 International Women's Day as they offer women unstinting praise and blessings. 

Showing of respect and affection for women is a trait of DPRK society, which is displayed more prominently whenever the day comes.

It is 115 years since International Women's Day began to be celebrated as the day of struggle against imperialism and colonialism and for peace, democracy and national independence, the day of promoting unity among progressive women throughout the world for their equality and rights and the day of demonstrating the might of unity. Despite the long years of strivings, sexual equality and women’s rights still fail to be respected around the world.

One hundred and fifteen years have passed since March 8 International Women’s Day was enacted in demand of granting women the same social rights with men. However, the problem of women’s destiny remains as a serious socio-political problem in many countries.

In the DPRK, women constitute a powerful force that dynamically turns one of the wheels of the chariot of the revolution, leaving an inedible footprint in the brilliant history of the country.

In the annals of struggle for the prosperity of the country are the feats of many heroines, who have worked devotedly for the country and people.

It is March 8 today, the international holiday of women.

The whole country is blessing women who add pleasure to their families and society and support their country with pure love, warm affection and patriotic devotion.

With bundles of fragrant flowers being presented to women and songs of congratulations to women sung across the country, the Korean women are significantly greeting their holiday full of great pride in being masters of the country with equal rights to men.

Hyon Kum Sun, a 70-year-old woman living in Central District, Pyongyang, has invariably assisted the Korean People’s Army for over ten years.

Shortly ago, she visited a KPA unit bringing with her aid materials which she had prepared with sincerity. Officers of the unit said that they are more keenly conscious of their sacred duty to defend the country whenever they meet people like her.

Choe Song Gum, a resident of Sosong District in the city, has offered material and moral help to major construction sites this year as she did before.

We have precious things that cannot be bartered even for huge money.

They are the idea and spirit of independence and self-esteem.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un put the dignity of the state and national power on the highest level in national history by dint of unrivalled courage and guts and wise leadership. He solves all problems arising in the revolution and construction from the standpoint of Juche under the banner of independence and self-esteem and makes no concession in the matter related to the fundamental interests of the state.

Every March, a bleak war wind blows for sure from the southern part of the Korean peninsula.

This year is no exception. Warmongers of the US and the puppet ROK will stage large-scale joint military exercises Freedom Shield in the ROK under the simulated conditions of an all-out war against the DPRK from next week.

No matter how frequently the enemy states describe the said large-scale war rehearsal targeting a sovereign state as “annual” and “defensive” one, they can never cover up its habitual, offensive and confrontational nature since it has “contributed” in a sustained way to violating the sovereignty, security and interests of the DPRK and deteriorating the regional situation.

Young people and women in North Hwanghae Province have joined the ranks of loyalty and patriotism amid all the people's trust in the Workers' Party of Korea's policies growing deeper as they witness significant changes for the comprehensive national rejuvenation through the first entities of regional development.

Young men and women in Koksan County requested the youth league organization to dispatch them to the county raw materials base station and those in Hwangju County voluntarily formed a youth sub-workteam to work at a raw materials base.

More than 250 women's union members in Unpha County volunteered as workers at the county raw materials base station and housewives in Yonsan, Kumchon and Pongsan counties at regional-industry factories and raw materials bases.

Crimes continue to happen in Japan.

Recently, a man and his wife stabbed each other with kitchen knives, and the woman died on the spot. 

And a grandson was arrested by the police for trying to kill his grandmother with a kitchen knife and a man detained for strangling his wife with a rope.

Fishery units in the west coastal area of the DPRK have started the first fishing campaign for this year.

Officials of North Phyongan and South Hwanghae provincial fishery management bureaus and fishery units worked out innovative plans for attaining the seafood goals and made preparations for the fishing campaign including the repair of fishing boats and the maintenance of fishing tackles after having secured equipment, accessories and materials.

Those of the Jongju Fishery Station took the lead in settling the knotty problems to ensure the successful repair of dozens of fishing boats.
