Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sends reply message to Laotian President

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a reply message to Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos, on September 16. 

The message said:

I express my deep thanks to you for sending warm congratulations on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Expressing belief that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop in the future, too, I wish you greater success in your responsible work for building a prosperous socialist state.

Agricultural workers move into new houses in Pyongyang

More houses have been built at the Sosin Vegetable Farm in Ryokpho District of Pyongyang this year too.

Present at the ceremony for moving into new houses held on the spot on September 16 were Ri Un Sok, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials of the Party and power organs, builders and agricultural workers in the district.

Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal People's Committee, made a congratulatory speech. Then, licences for the use of new houses were handed over.

New farmhouses built in Ichon County

A ceremony for moving into new houses took place at the Township Livestock Farm in Ichon County of Kangwon Province.

Present at the ceremony were Kim Myong Chol, secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials, builders and agricultural workers in the county.

A congratulatory address was made by Ju Mun Jin, chairman of the Kangwon Provincial People's Committee. Then licences for the use of new houses were conveyed.

DPRK foreign minister leaves for Russia

Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the DPRK, and her party left Pyongyang on September 16 to take part in the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum and the First BRICS Women's Forum to be held in Russia.

They were seen off at Pyongyang International Airport by Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jong Gyu and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexandr Matsegora. 

Manageress with insatiable desire for work

The word “elderly woman” reminds us first of the term “mother”.

But Mun Yong Son, manageress of the Tonghungsan Unha Garment Factory, has not lived simply as a mother, but worked as factory manageress and deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly discussing state affairs. 

After graduating from a college 40 years ago, she was appointed as a staffer for technical preparation of the factory at the age of 20.

DPRK advances to semifinals of 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

The DPRK team advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

A quarterfinal between the DPRK and Brazilian teams took place on September 15.

The DPRK team beat its Brazilian opponent 1-0 in the match. 

2024 Indoor Athletics Championships held

September 18, 2024

The 2024 Indoor Athletics Championships were held in August at the Athletics Gymnasium on Chongchun Street and Sosan Football Stadium in Pyongyang.

They brought together nearly 150 male and female players from 18 units including the Amnokgang and Pyongyang sports clubs and April 25 Sports Team.

National records were renewed in two events at the championships which took place, divided into 19 events. 

New houses rise up in Pukchang County

The joy of the Korean people enjoying a new happy life under the loving care of the Workers’ Party of Korea was also felt at the Namsang Farm in Pukchang County, South Phyongan Province.

A ceremony of moving into new houses held on the spot was attended by Kim Man Jo, secretary of the provincial Party committee, and officials, builders and agricultural workers of the county. 

A congratulatory address delivered by Kim Hyon Chol, vice-chairman of the provincial people’s committee, was followed by the handing over of licences for the use of houses.

Music prodigies grow under advantageous early education system

Dark horses in national ssirum contest for Grand Bull Prize

The 19th Grand Bull Prize National Ssirum Contest took place at the national ssirum ground on Rungna Islet in Pyongyang on September 5-6.

Wondering who would win the 19th Grand Bull Prize, huge crowds thronged the ground to see the contest of strength and wits.

One best player from each province (city under the direct control of the government) could take part in the contest which decided the rankings through catch-weight matches and therefore it was very fierce from the preliminary matches.
