Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gives field guidance at major tank factory

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at a major tank factory.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Sik, first deputy department director of the WPK Central Committee, and other senior officials of the Party Central Committee, and Kim Yong Hwan, president of the Academy of Defence Sciences.

He was greeted by the officials of the factory on the spot.

Going round various places of the factory, he learned in detail about the state of production and modernization at the factory and the implementation of the research tasks for core technology of tank.

The Academy of Defence Sciences and the workers and technicians of the factory, that have made single-minded efforts to carry out the tasks put forth at the Eighth Congress of the WPK on setting it as the pivotal goal of the munitions industry to put the military hardware on an intelligent, precision and highly-efficient basis and on orienting all the processes of research, development and production to its implementation, are making remarkable progress and successes in developing our-style tanks and armoured weapons and improving their combat performance.

Growing number of women volunteer to work

More than 50 housewives in Kanggye of Jagang Province volunteered to work at worksites for socialist construction last January. 

With an intention to repay the favours shown by the state which provided them with wonderful homes and various kinds of household goods when they were left homeless by floods, they went to work at the Uijin Farm of the Jagang Provincial Rural Economy Committee and the Unjong Vegetable Farm of Kanggye City. 

With a resolve to fulfil their civic duty in this year’s march for the successful completion of the five-year plan put forward by the Party, many women across the country, including women’s union members in Sinuiju City, Uiju County, Nampho Municipality, Chongjin City, North Hwanghae Province, Rason Municipality and the Tukjang area and Hamnam area coal-mining complexes, volunteered to work at major sites of socialist construction.  

KPA delegation returns home

The delegation of the Korean People's Army led by Pak Yong Il, vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, returned home on May 2 after taking part in the Third International Anti-Fascist Congress held in Russia.

The delegation was greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by generals and other officers of the Korean People's Army and military attaches of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang. 

Schoolchildren's art group leaves to visit Maritime Territory of Russia

A schoolchildren's art troupe of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace led by Kim Song Il, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, left Pyongyang on May 2 to visit Maritime Territory of Russia.

It was seen off at Pyongyang International Airport by officials of the Central Committee of the SPYL and members of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang. 

Graduation and opening ceremony of vocational training school for disabled persons held

A ceremony for the 11th-term graduation and 13th-term opening of the vocational training school for disabled persons of the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled was held on May 2.

Present there were Jon Chol Hi, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled, teaching staff, graduates, new students and parents.

Speeches were made at the ceremony.

Sports contest of health workers opens

The 12th Sports Contest of the Public Health Sector opened with due ceremony at the Taekwon-Do Palace in Pyongyang on May 2.

Such events as basketball (men), volleyball (men and women), table tennis, Taekwon-Do and tug of war are to be held in the contest, divided into two groups.

Present at the opening ceremony were Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and public health workers including players.

Shoigu rejects West’s military presence in Ukraine

Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, opposed the military presence of the West in Ukraine in a video speech on April 30.

Russia will never tolerate the deployment of military sub-units of Western countries in the Ukrainian territory, he noted, warning that those will be the legitimate target of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

Referring to a plan for deploying a quack peacekeeping force in Ukraine, he disclosed that there exist actual signs indicating that the West is making preparations for occupying the western areas of the country.

Iranian FM spokesman criticizes US for applying new sanctions

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman censured the US for applying new sanctions on May 1.

As to the fact that the US administration has decided to mount new sanctions on objects of other countries which cooperated with the country, he described it as an act of economic terrorism.

The sanctions moves of the US are an illegal and reckless act that infringes upon the sovereignty and interests of other countries and wrecks friendly and lawful relations between developing countries, he exposed.

Israel’s spy punished in Iran

Iran punished on April 30 a spy for committing anti-national crimes, bribed by Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service.

The spy was found guilty of helping with Israel’s anti-Iranian operations by providing material and technical assistance needed for the assassination of a member of the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and attacks on the facilities of the munitions industry.

The criminal reportedly confessed all his crimes.

US arms buildup will be unwise option adding to uncertainty of its mainland security

The following is the full text of an article "The US arms buildup will be an unwise option further increasing uncertainty of its mainland security" issued by a military commentator of the DPRK on May 3:

Recently, the fact that an interceptor drill simulating the so-called ICBM attack of an enemy state was conducted under the inspection of the US secretary of the Army at the Fort Greely military base in Alaska of the US was disclosed.

The drill, which was conducted under the signboard of "defense of the mainland", is, in essence, a military action of an offensive nature that made a nuclear war with the DPRK a fait accompli.
