Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspects major shipyards to learn about warship building and advance strategic policy for epochal development of shipbuilding industry

At a time when the struggle for attaining the important goals for realizing the grandiose plan of the Workers’ Party of Korea for building the country into an advanced maritime power is powerfully being pushed ahead with under the schedule set by the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, there took place the guidance work of the Party Central Committee, which is of remarkable significance in defending the maritime sovereignty of the DPRK and in developing its shipbuilding industry. 

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited major shipyards to give field guidance to warship building. 

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by leading officials of those shipyards. 

Accompanying him were Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Senior Admiral Kim Myong Sik, commander of the Navy of the Korean People’s Army, and major leading officials of the WPK Central Committee. 

He acquainted himself with the ongoing work for attaining the goal of building warships, set forth by the Party Congress, and the technical equipment level of the shipyards and the progress of their modernization projects.

Students of graduating class of middle schools in South Hamgyong volunteer for military service

All the people in the DPRK are inflamed with anger and hostility towards the US imperialists and the puppet group of the ROK getting hell-bent on the joint military exercises unprecedented in their aggressive nature and scale to provoke another war while seeking to check the stable development of the DPRK and extremely aggravate the political and military situation in the Korean peninsula.

Under such situation, more than 500 final-year students at senior middle schools in South Hamgyong Province have volunteered for military service at forefront border posts.

Many students in the graduating class volunteered to join the Korean People's Army in response to the call of the Korean Children's Union instructor at Yonggo Senior Middle School in Sinhung County who decided to take arms to defend the country and the revolution.

Women volunteers increase in Jagang Province

More than 250 women in Jagang Province have volunteered to work at posts of socialist construction.

A large number of primary women's union officials and its members in Janggang and Rangnim counties vowed to work at the theatres for implementing the Workers' Party of Korea's regional development policy.

Housewives in Jonchon County volunteered to work at new workplaces with the firm determination to glorify their honour as socialist working people.

‘Reversed envy’

In the DPRK, when people hear about Unpha County in North Hwanghae Province, the first thing that comes across their mind is the fact that the people of Taechong-ri in the county, who had suffered unexpected flood damage five years ago, became the masters of all blessings under the loving care of the state.

Recently, the county got to have another source of pride which they call “reversed envy”.

“After the regional-industry factories were newly built in the county, some people became the envy of not only the county residents but also city people. They are none other than the employees of the factories,” said Kim Yong Nam, manager of the Unpha County Foodstuff Factory.

Factory boosts production

The Unpha County Daily Necessities Factory has increased production.

The employees of the factory are putting spurs to the production of daily necessities needed for the inhabitants of the county with the pride of working at a modern factory built by the state.

“It is not long since the factory started production. Its technicians and workers, however, are vying with each other to master new equipment and present even one more technical innovation plan for raising the quality of products and productivity and increasing the variety of products,” said senior engineer Son Chang Sik.

Spring amateur bowlers tournament held

The 2025 Spring Amateur Bowlers Tournament took place at the Pyongyang Gold Lane from March 4 to 6.

Many male and female amateurs participated in the competition.

It was held, divided into men’s and women’s singles, doubles, team and all-star events. The singles, doubles and team event took place six times respectively to decide the final rankings according to total scores.

Evil presage of dangerous US-ROK joint military exercises: KCNA commentary

Shortly ago, there occurred an accident showing why the US-led bilateral and multilateral joint military drills staged frantically in the Korean peninsula are so dangerous and why they deserve the denunciation by the world people.

With the full-scale operation of the worst-ever joint military exercises Freedom Shield 2025 near at hand, there took place a record case of "simultaneous accidental bombings", in which two fighters of the puppet ROK army hell-bent on "firepower demonstration" air-raided a civilian village during a large-scale US-ROK live firing drill staged as a prelude to the exercises.

It was reported that the intensive dropping of eight bombs, due to the pilots' mistakes in inputting coordinates, caused dozens of civilian and military casualties and such heavy property damage as the destruction of private houses and vehicles.

Iranian president underlines need for unity

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at the meeting with Seyed Ali Khamenei, leader of Iran’s Islamic revolution, on March 8 that the unity of the country is the key to settling the problems facing the people and to coping with the threat from the enemies.

Iran will not be able to attain its goals if division and disagreements exist, he said, adding that if the Iranian people unite, they can surely defeat the enemies.

Many senior middle school graduating class students in Pyongyang volunteer to join army

Students in the final year of senior middle schools in Pyongyang met before the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on March 9 to express their determination to join the Korean People's Army.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

Speakers said that they volunteered to join the KPA though they wanted to do many things with great hope as they grew up with nothing to envy in the world under the loving care of the Workers' Party of Korea.

New palace to keep children’s dreams alive

Recently, The Pyongyang Times reporter Pang Un Ju visited the Sariwon Schoolchildren’s Palace which was newly built in the city of Sariwon of North Hwanghae Province.

Comprising a four-storeyed main building, theatre and gymnasium in a large area, it looked attractive at first sight for its modern architectural beauty well suited to the juvenile psychology.

Kim Jong Sun, director of the palace, said that it was built as a comprehensive extracurricular educational base for schoolchildren in December last year under the loving care of the Workers’ Party of Korea which regards children as precious treasures more valuable than billions of tons of gold and takes solicitous care of them.
