The Ninth April Spring People's Art Festival, which opened in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, came to an end with due ceremony at the Pyongyang Acrobatic Theatre on April 17.

Present at the ceremony were Ju Chang Il, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, participants in the festival and Pyongyang citizens.

The group prize was awarded to 24 units highly appreciated at the festival, ensemble prize to 13 works, creation prize to 14 persons and prize for best acting to 36 persons.

A meeting was held on the spot on April 17 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Korean Industrial Design Studio.

Present there were Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and officials and employees of the studio.

At the meeting, Kim Tok Hun conveyed a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the creators and officials of the studio.

Kim Jong Sun, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, met and had a talk in a friendly atmosphere with major members of the delegation of the United Russia Youth Guards led by Anton Zemidov, chairman of its Coordinating Council, who paid a courtesy call on her at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on April 17.

It was attended by Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, officials concerned and Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

Triplets of Kangnyong County, South Hwanghae Province, left the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital on April 17 amid the blessing of all the people.

The mother of the triplets is Yun Un Ju, who works as a farmer with her husband in Obong-ri, Kangnyong County.

Last year, Yun was diagnosed as a woman pregnant with triplets to be sent to the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, where she received various nutritious foods and tonics and enjoyed the best medical assistance.

Thanks to the sincere efforts of medical workers at the hospital, she gave easy birth to her triplets (two daughters and one son).

The babies weighed 1.45kg, 1.54kg and 1.26kg respectively at birth. Now they all weigh over 4kg.

Choe Un Ju is one of common household doctors working at the Songyo Polyclinic in Songyo District, Pyongyang.

However, she achieved a miraculous accomplishment others can hardly make.

Mun Hyon Suk, resident of Songyo-dong No. 1 of Songyo District who became able to walk again thanks to Choe’s efforts, recalled with deep emotion the days when she was under the devoted care of the doctor.

DPRK Hero Pak In Ho, a lecturer at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, met members of the delegation of the United Russia Youth Guards led by Anton Zemidov, chairman of its Coordinating Council, on April 17 in front of the US armed spy ship Pueblo.

The meeting was attended by Kim Song Il, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, and officials of the central committee and organizations of youth league at all levels. 

Pak In Ho told about the feats performed by the sailors of the Korean People's Army who captured the US armed spy ship Pueblo which intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK and conducted espionage activities.

The gourd-shaped pot, which was used in the earlier period of Ancient Joson(early 3000 BC-late 2000 BC), is one of relics representing the culture of ancient Korea in its earlier period for its distinct appearance, the superior quality of its material and its distinctive surface decoration.

Most of such pots are not generally large with a height of about 20 centimetres and  their surfaces were ground smooth. They were made mainly with soft earth like silt and sometimes with a mixture of the earth and fine sand. They are mainly brown, and some are black or reddish. 

They fairly vary in concrete appearance. There are those with an upright or slightly shallow neck, a neck slightly pursed inwards and a relatively long and short neck and those with a roundish or longish body and with or without a handle. The handles also vary in shape, including those shaped like a water jar handle, knob or lips.

Kim Il Sung Youth Honour Prize and Kim Il Sung Children Honour Prize were awarded to exemplary primary (sub-primary) youth league committees, officials and members of the youth league and members of the Korean Children's Union on the occasion of the greatest auspicious April holiday of the nation.

An awarding ceremony took place at the Youth League Hall on April 15.

Kim Il Sung Youth Honour Prize was conferred on 12 primary (sub-primary) youth league committees, 15 youth league officials and members that prepared the youth league organizations as genuine vanguard ranks faithful to the ideas and leadership of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and fully displayed their wisdom, courage and patriotic devotion at every workplace of socialist construction.

Flower baskets in the name of the China Beijing Zhengjie Culture, Science and Technology Co. Ltd., Han Qishou, general manager of the China Hong Kong Xiangtongjieda International Trade Co. Ltd., Zhang Peng, director of the Wen Mai Chinese dissemination process advisory council, Xiang Mingzhong, general manager of the China Dandong Changyuanhao Science and Technology Development Co. Ltd., and Zhang Yunyong, general manager of the Dandong Shengyuan Foodstuff Co. Ltd. were laid before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang on April 15 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.

On the same day, a flower basket in the name of the Nicaraguan embassy in Pyongyang was laid before the statues of the great leaders.
