2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off

The 2022 FIFA World Cup opened in Qatar on November 20.

Amid the resounding of the theme song, the official mascots of the event entered the venue of the opening ceremony.

The emblem of the sporting event depicting the number “8” denoting eight stadiums where the World Cup matches are to be held, appeared in the centre of the stadium.

The emir of Qatar made a congratulatory speech.

Following the opening ceremony, there was a match between Qatar, the host nation, and Ecuador.

Ecuador won the match 2:0.

During the international sporting event, 32 teams will hold a total of 64 matches at eight stadiums in five cities.
