Mt Taesong
February 3, 2023Mt Taesong situated in Taesong District, Pyongyang, is 270m above sea level.
It is called so in the sense that it has a large fort built to repulse foreign invasion in the period of Koguryo (277 BC-AD 668).
It is unusually beautiful as it looks green in not only early spring but also late autumn with evergreen pine trees covering all over it.
Along with the pine forests, various kinds of conspicuous flowers being in full bloom according to the season add beauty to the scenery of the mountain.
Mt Taesong has historical relics from the period of Koguryo including the Taesongsan Fort, site of Anhak Palace and old tomb clusters. Walls of the fort, a pavilion of Jangsu Peak, Nam Gate and Kwangbop Temple are in their original state.
