Kwimyon Rock

Kwimyon Rock stands near Samson Rock in the Manmulsang (Myriad-shaped Peaks) section of Outer Kumgang in Mt Kumgang, a celebrated mountain in Korea. The rock consists of granite interpenetrated in the Mesozoic era which was weathered through the long geological age and the curious-looking stone on top of its pillar seems to fall down in an instant. Azalea and other plants growing in the cracks of the rock bloom beautifully in spring and the area is covered with leaves all red and yellow in autumn, adding more beauty to the surrounding scenery. The rock took such a mysterious and beautiful shape as granite was weathered and broken along its joints and it is a natural monument of great academic significance. |
