Rhododendron is easily found in Mt Paektu, the highest mountain of Korea. The Korean people call it rhododendron of Mt Paektu, or yellow rhododendron as it puts forth yellow flowers.

It is an evergreen shrub belonging to the azalea family.

The Koreans named the plant “manbyongcho”, indicating that it is efficacious for the treatment of all kinds of diseases.

It grows well on cold highlands like Mt Paektu and has great vitality.

Rhododendron blooming even in snow constitutes another spectacular view in the scenery of the mountain drawing the admiration of everyone.
